When a t-shirt's too long, but you're wearing a coat/jacket/etc, you can tuck it in the back. This will leave less "extra" fabric in the front.

Just be sure that a) your belt is tight enough to keep most of it in as you move and b) your coat's long enough so your back won't be showing when you sit down. Getting caught doing it would be kind of ridiculous, I suppose.

As far as emergency measures go, that's one I use frequently. Works quite well.

What's difficult for me is that I live in a small town, rural area. The clothing stores we do have I have to shop in the boys/teen section. Since the sleeve length for boys shirts tends to be shorter, I'm usually okay, but occasionally I have to travel to the nearest metropolitan area to have my shirts bought online tailored. I'll definitely use these resources the next time I shop online.

Been using the faux French-cuff trick for decades. Having played years ago in a Dixieland band, have lots of sleeve garters around and have put them to good use! The V-Neck sweater trick has always been a favorite as well. Vests also help in a pinch (of course back in the 70s I could get away with my faux-leopard-skin or faux-leather vests. Not so much these days.)

Years ago I used to carry one of those "instant button repair" kits (Buttonnaire?) which came in handy for making quick tucks, hems, and other adjustments. (That idea actually came from working in the theatre biz) Not sure you can even buy those anymore.) A more modern solution is sticky-back thin velcro strips or rounds (though you do risk damaging the fabric with the adhesive.) Quite frankly, there are times when plain old scotch tape came to the rescue when it came time to looking good in clothes that just weren't made for short people like me.

Hi,

Wonderful comments - I will be using the clues to test out other outlets to find better jeans. As a shorter man - I always find that I can find the pants which fit me perfectly at Rugby - Ralph Lauren. They have my 28 waist with 30 inseam. Their vintage fits are incredible.

Thank you for this website. It's been helpful.

Maybe you don't know about this resource: http://www.theshortstop.com.

Their stuff is a bit downscale but the rises are just right for me at 5'-5". Nothing fancy but their chinos are suitable for everyday wear.

I stocked up a while ago so I haven't purchased from them recently. Maybe things have changed. Your readers might want to find out for themselves.

Best regards.
